WEB DESK – The Khyber Pakhtukhwa (KPK) Police would soon have a 150-men squad of commandos trained on the lines of US Marines as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government in the province agreed to provide all finances for the purpose.
The Chief Minister KPK, Pervez Khattak, made the announcement during the passing out parade of Elite Police Force in Attock.
Khattak maintained that KPK government would bear all expenses of the training of 150-men commando squad who would be first of its kind in the province. The squad would then act like a rapid response force, he added.
Khattak, while approving Rs 1 million grant for the Elite Police Force school, said that the 60 instructors would be recruited to train the Elite Force.
“The government is committed to reforming the police force in order to cleanse it of corruption,” said Khattak, adding there will be no political interference in the force from his government.
Earlier, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani said policing was a difficult task in the province, however, his force is committed to its duty. The IGP further said a rapid response force with a strength of 1050 officials will be deployed in 12 areas of the province.
