WEB DESK – The most wanted criminal gangster of Karachi who had the blood of at least 200 people on his hands, Mullah Nazir, had been gunned down by metropolis Police in an encounter.
According to the televised reports, the security officials confirmed that Mullah Nazir was killed on Saturday night when police raided his hideout in Shirin Jinnah Colony of country’s largest metropolitan city.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, Nasir Aftab, the raid was conducted after credible tip off.
“Nazir, who was armed to the teeth, tried to shoot his way out, but the raiding cops fired back killing him then and there”, SSP said.
Police also claimed to have found two hand grenades after searching the dead gangster thoroughly. Nazir was also one of notorious Lyari ganglord Uzair Baloch’s close aides.
A targeted operation against criminal elements had been underway for past many months. But the gangsters never gave up to gift dead bodies to the city almost every day.
The Director General of Sindh Rangers – paramilitary force leading the Karachi operation – once said that thedesignated powers to his force were not enough to bring peace back.
Moreover, the country’s premier spy agency, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), believed that militant wings of the major political parties in Sindh were behind the chaos in Karachi.
The leader of largest political party of Karachi, Dr Farooq Sattar, had related the peace in the city with the prospects of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s alliance with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
