LAHORE – Shahid Afridi, who has signaled for taking up the captaincy in short cricket format, is likely to face another turn down.Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Amin have emerged as the strong contenders of new Twenty20 captain of the Pakistan team.
The administrative committee of Pakistan Cricket Board has advised chairman Najam Sethi to appoint a young player instead of any senior player.
On the other side, Sethi wanted Afridi as the new captain of the team.
But, the committee members are opposing the idea.
“They are opposing of appointing Afridi as the captain as board had to face many problems due to his behavior,” PT learnt.
Muhammad Hafeez had resigned from his post after the defeat against West Indies in T20 World Cup.
